Problem
If your recordings fail or you get an error message which says “Sky+ playback and recording unavailable”, again it’s nothing to worry about and a few simple tests could resolve this issue before calling your insurer.
The Solution
Normally this is a problem with the HDD which can be easily resolved by doing a “planner rebuild” (which reorganises the files and folders on the hard drive and makes it run smoother).
Planner Rebuild for Sky+
- Press ‘Services’ on the remote.
- Press ‘4’ (System setup) Press ‘0’ then ‘1’ then select (This is the hidden menu)
- Press ‘7’ for Sky+ Planner Rebuild
- A message should appear saying ‘this will take a few minutes to complete’.
- Wait 5 minutes and then record a programme for 30 minutes to see if it has worked.
Planner Rebuild for Sky+HD
- Press ‘services’ on the remote.
- Press ‘right arrow’ to get to settings.
- Press ‘down arrow’ to highlight ‘picture’ in yellow.
- Press ‘0’ then ‘1’ then select (This is the hidden menu).
- Scroll with ‘left arrow’ to tab ‘Planner Rebuild’ and press select.
- A message should appear saying ‘this will take a few minutes to complete’.
- Wait 5 mins and then record a programme for 30 mins to see if it has worked.
- If these fail to resolve your issue it could be down to f connectors, cabling or something else which would need an engineer to take a look.
